Police ID Bicyclist Killed In Atlantic County Hit-Run Crash

An Egg Harbor Township bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash, authorities said.

Egg Harbor Township police said officers responded to the crash on Steelmanville Road in the Scullville section at around 6:34 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Neil Burman, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said a 38-year-old man from Egg Harbor Township was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram south on Steelmanville Road near Beaver Drive. His pickup struck Burman, who was riding his bike along the side of the road.

The pickup did not stop and left the area before officers found it a short time later. Police said charges are pending against the driver and the investigation is ongoing.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's office is helping the Egg Harbor Township Police Department in the case. Anyone who saw the crash or has information should call township police at 609-926-2661 or 609-926-4045.

Steelmanville Road was closed for more than four hours while the crash scene was investigated.
